Balfour Beatty Communities was recently ranked as the 15th largest apartment owner in the US according to the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) Top 50 Apartment Owners list for 2017, a significant move up on the list from the company’s 24th largest ranking in 2016.
"This year's Top 50 Owners list is marked by wide-ranging fluctuation in some of the industry's largest portfolios," noted Chris Williams, president of Balfour Beatty Communities. "Balfour Beatty Communities' significant rise on the 2017 ownership list is a direct result of our successful execution of a steady and methodical growth strategy. With an active pipeline of new opportunities, we look forward to continuing this trajectory in both the short and long-term."
Balfour Beatty Communities was also featured on the NMHC Top 50 Apartment Managers list for 2017, coming in as the 24th largest apartment manager in the US, the same position held on the 2016 list. Since last year’s appearance on the list, the number of units in Balfour Beatty Communities’ portfolio has increased to more than 50,400 units.
Along with NMHC’s partners in research, owners and management companies are invited to answer a survey questionnaire that asks about their prior year activities. Companies are then ranked based on their total portfolio holdings as of January 1, 2017.
