The Affinity team – the joint partnership between Balfour Beatty and Ledcor – received the 2015 North American Occupational Safety and Health award for the BC Children’s & BC Women’s Redevelopment Phase II Project. The award, presented by the British Columbia chapter of the North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) week, recognizes the hard work and dedication to communicating the importance of safety and health on the job.
Pat Duggan, General Manager, said, “Winning the NAOSH Safety Award truly demonstrates the dedication and commitment to health and safety that the team delivers each and every day and I am so proud to be part of this winning team.” To celebrate, Affinity held events highlighting safe work practices including vendor demonstrations, safety discussions covering topics such as concrete grinding, fall protection and personal protective equipment and wrapped the week up with a trade appreciation barbeque. NAOSH Week began almost twenty years ago to promote injury and illness prevention in the workplace and is celebrated across Canada, the US and Mexico.
BC Children’s & Women’s Safety Manager, Karen McRae, said, “We would like to express our gratitude to our vendors Capital Safety, DB Sala, Ono Safety, Hilti, and Reliable Hearing Testing for their time and efforts setting up displays and bringing their products to site. We would also like to recognize Jane Dellomes, Dana Buchart, and our very own grill master from Texas Billy Bryan, for their hard work helping make the barbeque such a success.”
